Post Modernism and Deconstructivism

Post Modernism movement has a different concept from the modernism movement since they tend to adopt the old idea from the past and randomly add new things up in the certain period of time. Opposite to the modernism movement, it represents new thinks, ideas and freedom in the present to the future. Post modernism movement had ignored the architectural principle and symbolic elements but focus more on material used and reform. Frank Gehry is one of a clear example to identify the significant of the postmodernism movement. In terms of a Deconstruction movement during the Post modern period, The Santa Monica’s house is considering the first recognize public Deconstruction architecture which Gehry renovated an old ordinary house into a beyond ordinary architecture. On the interior of the house, he tore down the wall panels and replaced them with variety partitions’ materials to create the dynamic and new effects. The skylight and transparency roof was placed that allows people to see the roof structure system. Proportion of doors and windows were bended and tilted into unusual shapes which make a contrast effect from the overall elements in the existed house. The material that he chose also gives the feeling of strength by metallic materials.
